The new Lord Mayor
As you know, the Lord Mayor changed on 11th November. The new Lord Mayor is Alderman Nicholas Lyons, Merchant Taylor and Insurer.
A Farewell Bulletin from the departing Lord Mayor is contained here.
Then, on the 12th November 2022 the Master accompanied by Colin Gurley - Master Elect , Liveryman Gillian Sainsbury and Freeman Sophie Lloyd represented the Company under the Senior Liveries' banner at the front of Lord Mayors Show immediately behind the leading band of the Coldstream Guards.
Thankfully the weather was extremely kind and they were all able to wear their full Loriners' regalia without the fear of a soaking! The crowds were out in force and in good spirits cheering them on their way.
With our Company name and logo proudly held aloft by our Master a most memorable day for our Master’s yearbook.
United Kingdom Armed Forces Equestrian Association (UKAFEA) - Loriners Cup 2022- Final Leg
On Friday 28th October 2022 the Master accompanied by the Mistress, Court Assistant John Morton (Steward for the UKAFEA) and Mrs Rebecca Morton attended the fourth and final leg of the 2022 Loriners Cup held at the Equine and Sport section of Sparsholt College, Hampshire at the invitation of Wing Commander Haley Norris.
This final round comprised of combined training which tested riders skills in both dressage and show jumping. Being the final leg of the Loriners Cup , and with all still to play for, the completion was understandably intense.
Following lunch Wing Commander Norris , Chair of the Air Force Equine Association addressed all invited and spoke passionately about the importance of the highly valued relationship between the Loriners' Company and UKAFEA going back many years and was delighted to hear that the Loriners' Trustees have confirmed the Company’s support for 2023.
After four legs of fierce competition The Loriners Cup 2022 was finally won, by a single point, by the Army and was the closest finish on record. The Royal Navy came an incredibly close second with the RAF not far behind in third.
The Master, who is pictured below presenting the Loriners Cup to the winning Army team, also presented Loriners Cup rosettes to all the participants.
We now look forward to bringing you details of next years Loriners Cup!
The Master takes a riding lesson!
The Master has taken his year in office very seriously, so much so that he has been talking riding lessons. Perhaprs this should be a requirement for all future Masters? There are no pictures of the lessons themselves (a closely guarded secret!) but here is the Master afterwards, looking very calm and collected.
The Master was taught by Ms Jabeena Maslin (who trains the GB Olympic Modern Pentathlon teams) and the horse is called Tonka.
